The most useful control (actually, the only one you need) is the lever on the main control panel. The white buttons are helpful because you can use them to see if a station is set to the button's corresponding symbol and which station it is. When you click on a button, the station(s) with that symbol set on their dial will have their blue light above them turn off. That means the force field isn't vibrating any more. (A useful trick is to set your screen so that you can see both the stations and the controls. Then, set your mouse so that it moves without the screen moving.)
